This touching nativity takes place on a raft in a jungle. Fish leap from the green waters of the river to witness the miraculous event. The plump baby Jesus looks meaningfully upward, invoking his Father's love. This same love beams from the faces of Mary and Joseph as they brim with pride and spirtual fulfillment. You too will feel the peace, love and beauty of Christmas each time you gaze upon this wondrous work. Feriberto Aylas uses special clay, native to the region for his ceramic creations. He hand shapes the pieces and prepares them with engobe, a fluid mixture of clay, water and color oxides, before firing them. Then each ceramic piece is hand-painted with natural pigments. Finally a sealant is applied to protect the paint. |
