Le Pashmina - Un accessoire mode très élégant
Pashmina est le nom presque générique pour nommer ces écharpes et châles faits à partir d'un type de laine qui provient de la race de chèvres «Tchang-ra», aussi appelée «capra hircus». Depuis le milieu des années 90, les châles de pashmina sont devenus très à la mode.
Le duvet de ces chèvres, élevées dans la région de la chaîne de l'Himalaya, est employé depuis des milliers d'années pour confectionner des châles de très haute qualité ; les pashminas. Il existe aussi une imitation de pashmina, appelé «pattû», composé d'un mélange de laine et de coton. De la même façon, il convient de ne pas confondre le pashmina et le namdâ, un feutre de laine blanche élaboré dans la même région et brodé de soie.
Les accessoires de Pashmina sont habituellement fabriqués dans les tailles suivantes: l'écharpe est de 36cm x 180cm, l'enveloppe ou l'étole est de 84cm X 240cm, quant au châle il est de 108cm X 240cm. Le tissu de pashmina le plus populaire est un mélange pashmina/30% et soie/70%, mais on peut aussi le trouver dans un mélange de 50/50 ou de 70/30.
